The interdisciplinary art project Sonic Impairment :: An Audio Portrait, addresses the complex sonic experience of an impaired hearing individual. As an audio portrait it deals with Laura’s unique hearing space, using her audiograms as sonic filters. The audience can navigate themselves within an installation space where auditory impairment is simulated with output through various devices. The project intends to open aural spaces and give insight into what is often difficult to understand - an impaired hearing space.
