Situated at the media center, the We Love Technology conference combined artists, practitioners, curators, educators, technologists, engineers and cartoonists, who mostly shared love and some hate of technology. One particular interesting artist for us, was Julius Popp’s Bit.Fall. A thought on the work was however, how he had created a series of structures to disconnect his own emotions from the work such picking words from news websites and later his use of artificial intelligence (used in his current work). Julius explained that he is doing the opposite of many artists - whose emotions are central in their works. (Would it otherwise only become an interface?)
“Simply stand on the treadmill, hold the dog’s lead, and go for a walk, watching the route on the TV in front of you. The dog has his own TV and obviously has his own perspective of the walk.”

What looked like a wooden dog mechanically rotating his head 180 degrees and spinning his tail like a fan had us in hysterics. (as with the “woof woof” soundtrack)

Regine Debatty of we-make-money-not-art spoke of her increasing interest towards biotechnological art/design practices and also how this shift has produced a lot of conflicts with some of her readers. She believes it is a scene that is about to explode and is currently following the important shift in thinking this type of work offers.
